The Out of Silence Choir rehearses at Harlaxton Manor on the A607 outside Grantham in Lincolnshire on Thursday evenings, between 7.30-9.30pm. Please Click Here to View a Map.

The performance schedule permitting, the choir welcomes new members and is noted for being friendly; not at all ‘cliquey' or stand-offish. There are no auditions and you may well surprise yourself with how quickly you will pick the songs up and feel increasingly confident. Because it is the

Musical Director's stated aim to further and protect the quality of singing of the choir, she makes the ultimate decisions about who is in the choir, and who may or may not take part in each performance. Any issues which arise are discussed, and the singer encouraged to work on specific things to sort them out.

If you are thinking of joining, and need to know more, please go to ‘How the Choir Works'.

On joining Out of Silence there is a one-off, non-refundable registration fee of £10.00. This covers the costs of providing word-sheets and tutor CDs which contain all the parts to the current repertoire. There is also a small weekly subscription of £5.00 per person, payable by the term or half-term in advance which funds the choir's work.

When you become a member your contact details go on the members' contact list. Your details will never be shared with a third party without your permission. Singers are organised into ‘buddy groups' – a system which enables us all to contact everyone quickly if plans have to be changed at short notice. Members also forward apologies through the buddy groups if they have to miss a rehearsal for any reason.

For performances the singers wear black ‘Out of Silence' T-shirts, available from the treasurer for £8-£10, with black full-length trousers and black shoes, taking off any jewellery and watches. As we always seem to end up singing in cold places, black ‘Out of Silence' fleeces are also available from the treasurer for around £25. The commitment to sing in a particular concert is taken very seriously, bearing in mind that every singer is vital, and if a few people don't turn up for some reason it can place extra pressure on the other singers.
